MY APPROACH
28 years of working on the front-line of elite sport has taught me that process matters.
I tend to look at the whole picture, applying a holistic approach to what might be thought to be the smallest of problems. My approach is not always a knee-jerk reaction, yet I can think fast, or slow. I immerse myself in the individual to understand their issue. A person’s lifestyle, the nature of the competition itself, and not least the specifics of the sport are all to be factored in to finding long term solutions to injury. Then I develop a range of answers to get them back to peak performance.
I am often congratulated on expanding and explaining what the problem the individual is facing in simple terms – to show how the core idea works.
All too many times I have seen athletes that perform in a small comfort zone. I always stress to the athlete that during their recovery they need to widen their comfort zone to include resilience training by working in different patterns that include plenty of chaos and functional challenges outside the normal scope of their sport. This wider comfort zone will ensure better “bounce back ability”, and faster recovery to future injuries.
I have adapted this dynamic rehabilitation skills to non-sporting walks of life including dancers, actors and the active recreational public.
I DO SPORTS REHABILITATION REALLY WELL.
I specialise in sports and post-operative rehabilitation. All while focussing on a final goal of improving performance levels.
Post-operatively, patients often get set in their ways with their rehab therapist.
A fresh look with a dynamic rehabilitation specialist like myself often rekindles the motivation to recover following long-term treatment programmes.
I am acutely aware that no two injuries with the same name are at all similar. Consequently, I approach and treat all injuries in a bespoke manner.
NB. Much of the interaction can be done remotely and advice reviewed through telehealth advice and exercise direction.
